The former rivals, who have since reconciled, were seen in a viral clip chatting warmly about their friendship while attending Beauty Tukura’s birthday party.
Tacha revealed that she and Mercy have been close friends for four years now, adding that their reconciliation was made possible through media personality Toke Makinwa, whom she credited for helping them settle their differences.

About a week ago, after Tacha broke the Guinness World Record for the most makeovers done in 24 hours, Mercy Eke expressed her excitement over Tacha’s achievement and teased that she had a big announcement coming. She praised Tacha for her success, saying she truly deserved it and that she “owed her one.”
Their renewed friendship didn’t come as a surprise, as just last month, Tacha had publicly celebrated Mercy’s birthday, calling her gorgeous and urging her to keep winning.
However, their relationship hasn’t always been smooth. In 2023, Tacha appeared to throw shade at Mercy after she flaunted her new Range Rover, just days after Tacha unveiled hers — a move that stirred talk of rivalry between the two. Tacha fueled the speculation further with a cryptic tweet that read, “But is she me?” suggesting she considered herself in a league of her own.
That same year, after Ilebaye emerged winner of the Big Brother Naija All Stars season, defeating Mercy and other housemates, Tacha again shaded Mercy, claiming she had “proven her point” and questioning whether Mercy would have won her original season if not for her disqualification.
Her comment drew backlash from actress Iheme Nancy, who reminded Tacha that Mercy had more votes during their season and remains “the all-time winner.”
The rivalry between Mercy and Tacha dates back to their explosive clash during the ‘Pepper Dem’ season of Big Brother Naija, which led to Tacha’s disqualification and Mercy’s eventual win. Many fans believed Tacha would have taken the crown had she not been disqualified, a sentiment that reportedly fueled years of tension between them.
In 2022, however, the duo reconciled, finally addressing their long-standing feud. In an interview with Toke Makinwa, both women admitted that fans and online trolls often try to pit them against each other, but they’ve chosen peace over drama.
They further proved their friendship was genuine when they joined Khloe Abiri on an Instagram Live session, showing that the once-rival stars had truly moved past their differences.
