Nigerian footballers who scored over 150 career goals
Here is a list of every Nigerian footballer who has scored over 150 career goals for both club and country as of 2026.
As unbelievable as it may sound, over the years, Nigerian footballers have continued to defy logic and break the speculations of Africa not being a continent where prolific strikers can be found. With this in mind we have compiled a list of Nigerian players who have scored over 150 career goals across all tournaments they have played in.
Who is Nigeria’s highest goalscorer of all time?
Odion Ighalo – 258 goals

A veteran of consistency, Ighalo has dominated leagues in Norway, Spain, England, China, and Saudi Arabia. He cleared the 150-goal hurdle years ago and currently sits well above 220 professional goals.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni – 242 goals

Powerful and dependable, “The Yak” made his name in the Premier League but added significantly to his numbers during spells in Israel, China and Turkey to push beyond the double century.
Victor Osimhen – 218 goals

How many career goals has Victor Osimhen scored so far?
The “African Goal King” reached his 100th goal in 2023 and hasn’t slowed down since. Victor Osimhen’s total career goals, as things stand, are 218 across club and country (Wolfsburg, Charleroi, Lille, Napoli, Galatasaray, and the Super Eagles), making him arguably the most prolific Nigerian striker of the modern era.
Paul Onuachu – 205 Goals

A towering presence in every sense, Onuachu is the newest member of the double-century club. As of February 2026, he has officially reached 205 professional goals across his time in Denmark, Belgium, and Turkey. His most destructive era came at KRC Genk, where he netted 85 goals, but he has sustained that lethal form at Trabzonspor, where he is currently enjoying a 15-goal season. While often categorised as a “target man” due to his 6’7″ frame, his clinical finishing with both feet has cemented his place as one of the most prolific Nigerian exports in European football history.
Rashidi Yekini – 202 goals

Revered as The Goals Father, Yekini stands as one of the most legendary scorers in Nigerian football history. While different sources debate the exact total, his combined output for club and country is widely believed to be well above 200, including his record tally for the Super Eagles.
Obafemi Martins – 201 goals

Finishing with 201 professional goals, Obafemi Martins, also known as Obagoal for his explosive style and eye for goal, struck fear into defences with his pace and directness. From standout spells in Italy (Serie A) and England (Premier League) to productive periods in Germany, Russia, the United States and China, he repeatedly proved his ability to deliver wherever he played.
Asisat Oshoala – 181 goals

How many goals has Asisat Oshoala scored?
One of Africa’s greatest women footballers, Oshoala, piled up extraordinary numbers for club and country, with her prolific Barcelona years contributing heavily to her total.
Jonathan Akpoborie – 172 goals

Across his professional journey, Jonathan Akpoborie accumulated 172 goals. Renowned for his strength, movement and ruthless finishing, he made his biggest impact in Germany, where he consistently delivered in the Bundesliga and built a reputation as a nightmare for defenders.
Cyriel Dessers – 170 Goals

Dessers has proven his goal-scoring pedigree across the top divisions of the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Scotland, and now Greece. As of early 2026, he has officially surpassed 170 professional goals for club and country. His career is highlighted by historic milestones, including finishing as the top scorer in the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League with Feyenoord and a prolific 52-goal stint at Rangers. Now leading the line for Panathinaikos, the Nigerian international remains one of the most reliable and intelligent finishers in the game, consistently hitting double figures regardless of the league or jersey he wears.
