Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has reacted after his wife, Lola Omotayo-Okoye, spent Thanksgiving in the U.S. with her former sister-in-law, Anita Okoye, and her children.
Naijabrain earlier reported that Anita shared a video from her Thanksgiving celebration, which she marked with her kids, friends, and Lola.
In the comment section of the post, Peter Okoye simply wrote, “Family.”
Anita responded with, “Fam Bam.”
This comes just days after Lola stirred reactions with her birthday message to Peter. Sharing a photo of him, she described him only as the father of their beautiful children and offered prayers for him—an omission that raised eyebrows, as many noted she didn’t refer to him as her husband or partner.
Lola’s bond with Anita has remained strong over the years, even after Anita’s split from Paul Okoye. When news of Paul’s remarriage surfaced online, Lola shared a video of herself enjoying life, adding a caption that she was simply living and minding her business. She later praised Anita publicly, calling her “the one and only.”
Last year, when Anita earned a Master’s Degree in Arts and Design from Savannah College, Lola celebrated her with heartfelt words, expressing pride in her achievements and affirming her love for her, describing her as a “complete package.”
Peter also showed support for Anita’s family last year when he sent birthday wishes to her twins, expressing love for them.
For Anita’s birthday in November, Lola praised her parenting skills and expressed how proud she was of her. Anita, in return, thanked Lola for her unwavering support, calling her the embodiment of sisterhood and appreciating her heartfelt prayers.
Recall that Anita filed for divorce in 2022 on grounds of cheating, separation, absentee parenting, fraud, and irreconcilable experiences. In 2023, an Abuja High Court in Maitama finalized the divorce, granting her custody arrangements, a $20,000 monthly settlement, and several properties.
Paul later moved on with model Ivy Ifeoma, whom he married in May 2024, and with whom he welcomed a child. Although Paul and Anita initially maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship, tensions rose in August 2024 after they unfollowed each other on social media, following Paul’s purchase of a second U.S. mansion, reportedly for his then-pregnant wife.
