The Super Eagles are set to depart for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco today, continuing their tradition of traveling in style ahead of major tournaments.
Players and officials will don elegant green traditional kaftans with floral embroidery, paired with matching caps, as they board a chartered flight from Cairo to their group base in Fes.
Nigeria will be stationed in Fes for the group stage and will kick off their AFCON campaign against Tanzania on Tuesday evening, with a 6:30 pm start. Team officials confirmed that the Super Eagles will hold their first training session in Morocco later today upon arrival.
The team is coming off a 2-1 loss to Egypt in a preparatory friendly held at Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Mahmoud Saber and Mostafa Mohamed scored for the Pharaohs, while Chidozie Awaziem netted Nigeria’s equalizer before halftime.
After the friendly, the Super Eagles had a gym and recovery session on Wednesday morning, followed by another training session later in the evening as they made final preparations for their departure.
The use of traditional green or white native attire as ceremonial wear has become a signature for the national team when heading into international tournaments, and this year is no different, with players pairing the outfits with various footwear styles
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen was the last player to join the squad in Egypt ahead of the team’s departure to Morocco. Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze, who missed the friendly against Egypt, also linked up with the team on Wednesday.
