Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has become the center of attention following the lavish burial party she held in honour of her late mother.

Naijabrain reported that the actress, who lost her mother a few months ago, finally laid her to rest on Friday, November 28th, and hosted a grand celebration the following day to mark her well-lived life.

As expected, the Nollywood community turned out in full force to support her. The event also had in attendance the Ooni of Ife’s fourth wife, Olori Ashley, former House of Representatives member Abike Dabiri, and several other prominent personalities.

One major highlight of the ceremony was the massive array of souvenirs distributed to guests. In a viral clip, a party guest was seen sharing beverages generously with others.

The video triggered reactions online.
One damelanin_ wrote: “The concept of extravagant burial celebrations in Africa still confuses me.”
Another, ms_omawumi, commented: “I hope these people save for the rainy days?”
While atitebiseungrace added: “I miss Bobrisky.”

Ahead of the burial, Mercy penned an emotional note to her late mother, asking God to grant the family strength to navigate the difficult period. She reflected on the memories they shared, describing her mother as a blessing, a gentle guide, and a quiet source of light.

Recall that Mercy announced her mother’s passing in September, revealing the heartbreaking news with a candlelight post captioned: “RIP Mum.”

In a message of appreciation that followed, she thanked the public for their prayers, messages, and overwhelming support during her grief.

In another deeply emotional post, the actress opened up about how mentally and emotionally draining it was to plan a burial. She lamented the pain of visiting cemeteries, checking vaults, and selecting coffins, admitting that the weight of it all was beyond what words could describe.
