Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has disclosed that he is in the process of ending his marriage as part of a plan to marry more than one wife.
Naija Brain reports that the movie producer made this known during a watch party for his latest film, where he spoke openly about marriage, family life and the influence of his background.
Afolayan explained that the divorce case is already before a court and that he is ready to face whatever comes with the legal process.
He said the move is necessary for him to live the kind of marital life he believes in.
The veteran traced his outlook to the home he grew up in, noting that his late father practiced polygamy and had ten wives with 25 children.
According to him, his own existence and career are tied to that family setting, adding that he is the seventh child of his father.
The filmmaker said his father’s life played a major role in shaping who he is today, including the success he has recorded in the film industry and projects linked to his name.
During the discussion, Afolayan also urged men to think beyond having only one partner, saying that building a lasting family line and continuity should matter to them.
He said: “I am in and out of court seeking a divorce. I don’t mind the toll. So I can marry many wives now.
“Without my father, there wouldn’t be a KAP Village or even Kunle Afolayan. I am the seventh child of my father because he had ten wives.”
