Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has been released from police custody after spending two days in detention.
Reports indicate that she was freed on Monday, following her arrest on Saturday evening. Her detention came after a social media post in which she accused Lagos-based Pastor Chris Okafor of deceiving her with a promise of marriage, among other claims.
The arrest quickly drew widespread attention online, with many Nigerians raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding her detention.
Several online personalities and activists publicly demanded her release, including well-known social media commentator VeryDarkMan.
Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore was also reported to have stepped in to intervene in the matter.
Celebrating her release, Doris Ogala took to Instagram on Monday afternoon to thank everyone who supported her during the ordeal. In a short post, she wrote:
“Thank you, Sowore. Special thanks to my Ratel King.”
Earlier, Intelregion reported that VeryDarkMan had issued a warning to Pastor Chris Okafor and another individual named Jeremiah, stating that if Doris Ogala was not released by Tuesday, he would publicly disclose evidence she had allegedly shared with him.

As of this report, the police have yet to release an official statement outlining the terms of Doris Ogala’s release or whether further investigations will continue.
However, many netizens claim that both Pastor Chris Okafor and Jeremiah yielded to VeryDarkMan’s pressure, releasing the actress ahead of the Tuesday ultimatum.
