Afrobeats star and entrepreneur Mr Eazi has announced plans to acquire African music catalogues through his company, emPawa Africa. In a post on X, he invited rights holders with verified ownership and at least three years of earnings history to sell part or all of their catalogues.
The initiative aligns with global trends where music rights are increasingly bought for long-term revenue, while artists receive upfront payouts. Mr Eazi’s strategy aims to keep African intellectual property under African ownership and strengthen emPawa’s role in the continent’s growing music economy.
This follows the appointment of Miller Williams as Head of Publishing, signaling emPawa’s focus on catalogue expansion and international reach. Known for developing talents like Joeboy, emPawa Africa is now entering a new phase that could redefine how African music is valued and monetized.
With this move, Mr Eazi reaffirms his position not just as an artist, but as a visionary entrepreneur shaping the future of African music business.
