The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two prime suspects involved in the brutal robbery and stabbing of popular Nigerian artist Ololade Keshinro, better known as Lil Kesh. The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Mathew Adewole and 31-year-old Mukhtar Muhammad, were apprehended in Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano, following a well-coordinated, intelligence-led operation.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on August 19, 2025, at Lil Kesh’s residence in Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos, where the suspects allegedly attacked the artist, leaving him with deep cuts to his neck in an apparent attempt to take his life. They were also said to have transferred ₦2.12 million from the artist’s account to Muhammad’s using his mobile phone during the robbery.
Following the arrests, police recovered the stolen funds and other evidence linking the suspects to the crime. They have since been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna described the development as a “major breakthrough”, attributing the success to intelligence gathering, community cooperation, and the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. He added that the Force remains committed to strengthening its intelligence network and enhancing community policing to curb violent crimes across the country.
Meanwhile, Lil Kesh, in a reassuring message to fans on X (formerly Twitter), expressed gratitude for their concern and support, saying, “Despite the unexpected turn of events in my life, I’m safe, recovering, and grateful to be here. I appreciate the prayers, love, and support.”
The arrests have sparked widespread reactions among fans and music lovers, many of whom have praised the police for their swift response and urged justice for the artist.
