Super Eagles forward, Victor Boniface, has returned to Bayer Leverkusen to continue his rehabilitation following a successful knee surgery.
Boniface is set to be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season.
The 25-year-old Nigerian striker, on loan at Werder Bremen, underwent the procedure on January 10 to address persistent right knee issues.
Boniface’s time at Werder Bremen, which began earlier this season, was marred by recurring knee problems which limited his appearances and overall impact.
After months of enduring pain, both clubs agreed that surgery was necessary to ensure his long-term fitness.
The striker is expected to be out for several months, effectively ending his campaign with Bremen.
