Background
In 2022, Baba Ijesha was sentenced to five years imprisonment for sexually assaulting comedienne Princess’s 14-year-old foster daughter. Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, in a detailed judgment, convicted him on charges of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault. He was acquitted of two other counts. Though the total sentence amounted to 16 years, he was to serve only 5 years concurrently.
After the judgment, comedienne Princess celebrated the court’s decision, sharing a video of herself rejoicing.
The case dates back to 2021 when Princess accused Baba Ijesha of molesting her 14-year-old ward. A video later circulated online showing the actor being confronted over the allegations.
The scandal caused a major rift in Nollywood, with Iyabo Ojo supporting Princess, while Yomi Fabiyi defended Baba Ijesha—sparking a very public feud between the two actors.
