Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has asked for forgiveness from her colleague, Mercy Johnson, as well as her children and family over past issues between them.
Naija Brain reports that in a video shared on her Instagram page, Okorie first appreciated her fans across the world for their steady support and love.
She admitted that she is not perfect and acknowledged that growth and age have changed her outlook on life.
According to her, the message was directed mainly to Mercy Johnson and her household.
The actress explained that over the years in the film industry, misunderstandings were often fueled by third parties who claimed one person said something about the other.
She said that these situations led to arguments, tension and public disagreements, but said she no longer wants such conflicts at this stage of her life.
Okorie stated that she regretted any hurt caused by her words or online posts whenever Mercy Johnson’s name came up.
She cleared Mercy of negative labels that had followed her and said her decision to apologize was sincere and from the heart.
She also spoke about their children, stressing that the future is unpredictable and that their kids could cross paths anywhere in the world and form close friendships.
She added that it would be wrong for parents to allow personal disputes to affect their children’s lives.
Okorie condemned any form of bullying directed at Mercy Johnson’s children, especially in school, and said she would strongly oppose such actions if it involved her own child.
The actress went on to ask for forgiveness from anyone she may have offended, whether knowingly or unknowingly.
She described herself as a peaceful person who desires harmony and said she is choosing to make peace with everyone.
Okorie added that she sees this moment as a fresh start in her relationship with Mercy Johnson and promised not to rely on rumours anymore, but to reach out directly if any issue arises.
She further revealed that both of them had already spoken privately and settled their differences, with apologies exchanged and accepted on both sides.
Okorie concluded by saying she holds no grudge against Mercy Johnson, expressed love for her, and offered prayers for her continued success and progress.
She said: “Hi everybody, this is your one and only Legit Queen. I just want to say a very big thank you to all my fans around the world. I mean, I don’t know what I might have done for you guys to show me this massive love. I’m not a perfect being. Yes, I am not.
“So this video is specifically for Mercy and her kids and her family.
“When you are getting older, a lot of things will be leaving you. While we were growing in the industry, some people will come and tell me that Mercy said, some people will tell me that Angela said. They have been issues, quarrels, chaos, logherheads, you know, and at this age, I don’t think this is what I want.
“I just want to apologise to you if it’s just my words, if it’s the words I have written anytime your name pops out on social media. I am deeply sorry. You are not a witch. You are not what people are calling you. This is just to say I am sorry.
“We don’t know where our kids will meet each other tomorrow. They might be best of friends. These kids have been travelling far and wide. They can meet anywhere in the world and they can be best of friends, and we as mothers, we cannot stop them from being friends.
“I do not love the fact that they call Mercy’s kids which is bullying them in school and all that. If they do it to my child, I won’t take it.
“So this is to say I am sorry. Deeply sorry for everything. I love everybody. Like the Bible will say, make peace with all men. I am making peace with everybody. I don’t know who I might have offended. Please knowingly or unknowingly, Biko.
“I am sorry, please forgive. Legit Queen is not a troublesome person. I’m the most sweetest soul you can ever see or meet in your life. I am deeply sorry for everything I might have written or said against you. Mercy, this is a new beginning. You are my friend and you are still my friend. I will never listen to whatever anybody’s gonna tell me about you again. If there is anything I hear, I will give you a call.
“Like when we spoke on the phone with me, you apologised to me, said you’re sorry, and I accepted you wholeheartedly.
“God in heaven knows that I don’t have anything against you. I love you, and I pray that God blesses you and lifts you higher wherever you are in Jesus’ name.”
The apology comes days after reports that Okorie was arrested in Lagos by operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department over allegations linked to cyberstalking, threats and harassment.
She was later granted bail in the sum of ₦5 million.
