In a now-viral clip circulating across social media, Apostle Johnson Suleman, Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) Global—one of Nigeria’s largest churches with its international headquarters in Auchi—has delivered a sharp rebuke to what he described as an “ugly and un-Godly” trend among some pastors.

Speaking candidly, Apostle Suleman criticized ministers who jump from one online trend to another, attacking fellow pastors in a bid to gain relevance, likes, and social media engagement. According to him, such behavior departs from the core mandate of the gospel.

> “Preach Christ. Preach Jesus to your members. Don’t attack others,” he admonished, stressing that the pulpit should never be reduced to a battleground for personal opinions or digital clout.

His comments come amid ongoing online debates sparked by controversial statements such as the trending “I’ll not follow a poor pastor” discourse, which has polarized Christian audiences and fueled public confrontations between clergy on digital platforms.

Apostle Suleman’s intervention has generated mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians taking sides. While some argue that public doctrinal debates are healthy, a significant number have praised his call for restraint, unity, and spiritual focus.

One social media user, @MattewAfenire, echoed this sentiment, writing:

> “I agree with Apostle Suleman on this. These incessant and unnecessary attacks, pastors digging for scriptures just to attack another pastor all for trends, is not good at all. It’s screaming division.”

As conversations continue to unfold, Apostle Suleman’s message stands as a pointed reminder to Christian leaders: the gospel thrives on love, truth, and unity—not online outrage or rivalry. For many observers, his stance reinforces a growing demand for responsibility and maturity in faith leadership, especially in the age of viral content and digital influence.
