Nollywood actress Habibat Jinad has publicly called out her colleague Lateef Adedimeji for allegedly snubbing her and cutting off communication.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, the Yoruba actress revealed that she once reached out to Lateef to feature in a movie she was producing, but he reportedly told her that he “only works with fortunate people.” Shocked by his response, Habibat said she decided to distance herself from him.
According to her, months later, someone contacted her to help reach Lateef for a movie role, but when she tried to get in touch, she discovered that the actor had blocked her on all social media platforms, including WhatsApp and Instagram.
“Some years ago, I called Lateef to ask him to play a role in my movie,” she recounted. “He told me he only features in films with fortunate people, and I was surprised. I pulled away from our friendship afterward.
A few months later, when someone asked me to help contact him for a role, I realized he had blocked me everywhere — on WhatsApp, Instagram, and other platforms.”
In May last year, actress Wumi Toriola publicly apologized to her colleague and friend Habibat Jinad after five years of silence between them for no apparent reason.
Wumi shared a lovely photo of Habibat on Instagram, reflecting on their unexpected distance and wondering why they stopped communicating. She revealed that she had recently followed Habibat back on Instagram and couldn’t resist admiring photos of her colleague’s newborn baby, Okikiola.
Reacting to the reconciliation, Habibat expressed her joy and gratitude, saying she had prayed to celebrate her 40th birthday in peace with everyone around her — a prayer she said God had answered. She emphasized that they were no longer getting younger and needed to embrace love, peace, and unity among themselves.
Around the same period, Habibat also shared some of her past struggles in the movie industry. She recalled how actress Mide Martins once mocked her skin color on a movie set — a remark that affected her deeply and even made her consider bleaching her skin.
Additionally, Habibat had a public fallout with actress Yetunde Bakare, whom she accused of speaking ill of her to others. She pleaded with Yetunde to allow her to live in peace for the sake of her son. The exchange later spiraled into a social media confrontation, as Yetunde denied the allegations and offered her side of the story.
