Nollywood star and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji is basking in joy and gratitude as his blockbuster film, Lisabi, secures an impressive seven nominations at the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

The historical epic, inspired by the legendary Egbaland warrior Lisabi, received nods in top categories including Best Visual Effects, Best Director, Best Make-up, Best Nigerian Film, Best Actor, Best Film in African Language, and Best Film Overall — a testament to its artistic excellence and cultural depth.

Taking to his Instagram page, Lateef expressed heartfelt appreciation, describing the nominations as “beyond words.” He thanked his cast, crew, and partners such as @niyiakinmolayan and @anthillstudios for bringing his vision to life, while encouraging aspiring creatives to stay consistent, assuring that “recognition will come someday.”

This achievement follows Lisabi’s earlier success at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), where it bagged ten nominations in March. His wife, Mo Bimpe, celebrated the feat with him by sharing a video of their thanksgiving session, as they and their crew expressed gratitude to God for the milestone.

Since its release, Lisabi has continued to make waves both locally and internationally. The film made a strong showing on Netflix’s Top 10 chart in late 2024 and became one of the most searched Nigerian movies of the year — a major achievement for Lateef’s debut as a filmmaker.

Lateef, who has long been celebrated for his versatility as an actor, has now proven himself as a visionary storyteller. Through Lisabi, he successfully brought history to life, blending powerful storytelling with high production quality and emotional depth.

His wife and co-star, Mo Bimpe, also expressed pride in their shared success, noting that Lisabi’s impact shows how far they’ve come as a creative duo. Following the movie’s resounding success, the couple released the sequel to Lisabi, which also earned a spot among 2024’s most searched Nigerian films, further solidifying their influence in Nollywood’s evolving landscape.

With Lisabi’s continued global recognition and multiple award nominations, Lateef Adedimeji’s journey from actor to accomplished filmmaker stands as an inspiring example of dedication, vision, and cultural pride.
