Nigerian singer Shoday has shared his thoughts on the staying power of street-hop sensation Portable, arguing that the controversial artist’s career is unlikely to fade anytime soon.

In a recent interview, Shoday said Portable’s influence goes beyond just music, crediting his raw personality and unfiltered online presence as key factors in his enduring relevance.

“Artists like Portable, before he will go down and not trend again, it’ll be long,” Shoday explained. “Music is far beyond a song. People need to know who you are. People need to know your personality.”

According to Shoday, Portable’s willingness to share his life without filters is what sets him apart. “This person doesn’t care. He posts on Instagram like WhatsApp,” he said, describing the singer’s casual and often chaotic approach to social media.

When Portable first burst onto the scene, many critics dismissed him as a one-year wonder. But years later, Shoday notes, the Zazuu crooner is still in the spotlight. “When he came out, people thought he was only going to trend for a year and that’s that, but till today he’s still buzzing,” he recalled.

Shoday also pointed to Portable’s ability to turn negative press into opportunities. “Every controversy, there’s a song he drops. He drops a song for it,” he said.

With his bold personality, fearless presence, and knack for seizing the moment, Portable has managed to turn controversy into consistency, defying predictions and carving out a lasting space in Nigeria’s music scene.
